Ted Pixley
Occupational Therapist
As a Michigan native, I have been living and working professionally in the Ann Arbor area for over a decade. After receiving my Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan, I was accepted into the New York Teaching Fellows and relocated to New York City where I taught elementary special education in the South Bronx. Upon returning home to Michigan, I worked as a private homeschool teacher for a young adult with severe cognitive impairments before attending Eastern Michigan University to obtain my Masters in Occupational Therapy.

I have worked extensively in public school settings in the Southeast Michigan area, predominantly with elementary aged children to develop the skills they need to be successful in school based academic settings. I also worked with young adults transitioning out of the public school setting into vocational training programs and post secondary programs.

As a private practitioner, I also work with individuals who have suffered auto acquired traumatic brain injuries. I have taken my experience and knowledge in working with young adults with cognitive impairments and developed a unique, hands on approach to working with clients recovering from traumatic brain injuries to recover their independent living skills.

I also have a wealth of experience in working in acute, inpatient and home health care medical based settings. I currently work in both home health and private practice settings with older adults transitioning back to their homes after recent hospitalizations. I am an expert in home accessibility and safety, medical equipment training, and in working with clients to regain their independence with activities of daily living.
